Minutes of meeting held on January 15, 2008

Present: Terry Albright, Carol Weiper, Mary Ann Purdon, Jim Akin, Glenn Bohmer, Corinne Pearson, Angela Hopkins, Joan Mehl, Cathy Cook, John Hunter, Tom Schimpff, Herb Ebert, Carolyn Pratt, Shirley Smith.

The minutes of the November meeting were approved unanimously.

Treasurer: Balance $2,952.00 on 12/31/2007. The actual vs. Budget numbers were provided for all choir members. Report approved unanimously.

Fall Performance:
1. Jim was very pleased with the performance and also the quality of the CD.
2. There was some discomfort on the part of the church about recording the performance without a license. In fact Messiah is now Public Domain and therefore no license was required. The question was raise about the legality of photocopying popular sheet music. Corinne to enquire via Mannerino’s whether a license covering popular music is available.
3. A DVD was made of the performance. John will make it available for purchase.
4. It was noted that the soloists were excellent to work with and remained after the performance for the reception.


Spring Performance:
1. Date - Friday, May 2nd at Sycamore church. Refreshment will be served after the performance.
2. A title is needed for the performance reflecting a decade of the JS and music chosen by the members.
3. It was noted that we need to arrange performances to small groups in order to fulfill grant requirements.

Retreat:
1. Date Saturday, March 15th at Grailville.
2. Ideas needed for activities and volunteers for bringing refreshments.

Other Spring Performances:
1. There will be a second performance of the spring concert on Sunday, May 4th at Friendship church. Refreshments to be served after concert.
2. It was agreed that programs will contain both of the venues and dates.

Member Survey:
This has been compiled by Terry to determine how the chorus feels about the direction the JS is currently taking. The board was asked to provide feedback on the survey before next Tuesday.

New Business:
The website has had 67 hits since the concert, presumably as a result of having the soloists on there.
Terry planning to create a secure site for member details and attendance. This will not be reached from the current website and will require a password for access.
