Jubilant Singers
Minutes of meeting held on February 19, 2008

Present: Terry Albright, Carol Weiper, Jim Akin, Glenn Bohmer, Corinne Pearson, Joan Mehl, Cathy Cook, John Hunter, Tom Schimpff, Carolyn Pratt, Shirley Smith, Suzanne Smith.

The minutes of the February meeting were approved unanimously.

Treasurer: Balance $2703.58 as of 2/11/2008. Report approved unanimously. 

Other Spring Performances:
1. Maple Knoll March 13th. The sign up for this is small so far but will go ahead. It will be a sing along plus a few pieces from the main concert.
2. Other dates to be decided - sometime in April. There was discussion about possible venues. Carol to check with Mason Christian Village and Amy to be asked about Cottingham Retirement Home.
Staples can create signage for publicity.

Retreat:
1. Date Saturday, March 15th at Grailville. The cost will be $15. There will not be a guest conductor.
2. Volunteer needed for an icebreaker activity. Tom bringing Donuts, Terry home made cookies.

Spring Performance:
1. Date - Friday, May 2nd at Sycamore church. 7:30pm
               Sunday, May 4th at Friendship United Methodist Church. 7pm
2. Title: “It’s a Grand Night For Singing” with a mention that the music has been selected by choir members from over a decade of singing.
The spring concert will be dedicated to Recca Woods who was one of the founding members of the Jubilant Singers.

Publicity:
Posters - Terry checking with Staples; Banners - John will rework these; Postcards - Terry will work on these and asked for suggestions for changing their appearance; Radio - Amy to be asked about what radio spots she has used; Newspapers - Carole has sent material out to local papers; Programs - Glenn will work with Amy. A rough draft is needed by April 15th.
Creative Aging - John reported that Creative Aging has asked the JS to classify programs into a theme. It was decided to categorize the spring concert as “Old Favorites.”


Member Survey:
There were eighteen responses. Results were discussed. One third of respondents requested access to minutes and Treasurer’s Report. Terry reported that it will soon be possible to post these on the web site.
It was agreed to spend some time at the retreat in dialogue with the choir regarding the results of the survey.
